The laser beam detected from the pick-up unit amplifies the first I/V of pick-up itself, and inputs to the RF
AMP IC (IC201:TA1254F).
The pick-up unit has LD (Laser Diode) and PD (Photo Diode) for CD, LD and PD for DVD
respectively, and they are controlled by µ-COM separately.
®Á
CD (CD-DA, CD-ROM, VIDEO-CD, CD-R, CD-RW)
The A, B, C, E and F signals output from the pick-up for CD. (Refer to "structure of the pick-up".)
This model, DRD-820B takes the hologram method for CD LD, no D signal.
RF is generated to (A+B+2C), Focus Error is B-C, and Tracking Error is E-F.
®Ë
DVD (DVD-Single, Dual Layer, DVD-R)
The A, B, C, and D signals outputs from the pick-up for DVD.
RF is generated to (A+B+C+D), Tracking Error is phase difference of the A, B, C and D, and Focus
Error is (A+C)-(B+D).
<Input and output signal of IC201>
The laser beam for CD and DVD inputs to the each other terminal from IC201 (TA1254F).
For CD, the signal input to the preceding terminal amplified to 4dB at
the first RF AMP IC (TA1254F) basically.
For DVD, the signal input to the preceding terminal without the basic gain
amplification.
The signal input to RF AMP IC (TA1254F) is converted and used to Data or Servo Signal for RF, FE,
TE. etc. with the various method respectively according to setting of internal resistor by the µ-COM as
shown in the Fig. (TA1254F internal block diagram).
The control terminal of EQB, EQF and EQD is used for EQ (RF Equalizer) adjustment in the RF
generating mode, EQB controls Boost of RFEQ, EQF controls frequency and EQD controls Delay volume
respectively with PWM signal output from TC90A41F.
The laser beam for DVD and CD generates each signal (RF, TE and FE, etc) and influences with each
signal at the same time, and the resistor or each gain adjustment is applied differently according to the
disc.
* Pin, LVL : Sub Beam ADD signal, This signal detects focus or defect signal.
* Pin, RPO : RF Ripple signal, This signal is used as a reference signal on the track cross mode.
* Pin, RPZ : Zero Cross signal of RF Ripple
* Pin, RFO : CD/DVD RF Output
* Pin, TEO : Tracking Error Output
* Pin, FEO : Focus Error Output
* Pin, VRCK : Data Management Clock for EQ adjustment (variable according to the disc.)
The reference voltage for all signal as above is 2.1V, and this voltage is generated in the TA1254F and
output.
