BRAKE FLUID LEVEL
Visually check the fluid level through the reservoir. If the
fluid level is low, replenish the brake fluid reservoir with
FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3 or SAE J1703 brake fluid and check
for fluid leaks. Brake fluid level should be at the “MAX” line
(within 0.2 inches [5.0 mm] below).
NOTE:
Refer to the
Repair Manual
for fluid specifications.
BATTERY TERMINAL TIGHTNESS AND
CHARGE
a) Check the electrolyte level. If the electrolyte level is low,
check the battery case for leakage.
b) Check the battery charge. Measure the open-circuit
battery voltage between the terminals. If the voltage
reading is less than 12.6 volts, recharge the battery.
NOTE:
Before measuring the voltage, turn off the engine and all
electrical systems. Wait 60 seconds to remove the surface
charge. If the engine was running before measuring the
voltage, wait 20 minutes after the engine stops to remove
the surface charge.
c) Check that the battery terminals are properly connected
and that the clamp is firmly installed.
