Approved purpose
The AMS 3xx
i
is an absolute measuring optical laser measurement system which allows
distance measurement of up to 300m for positioning automated moving system parts.
In particular, unauthorized uses include:
• in rooms with explosive atmospheres
• in circuits which are relevant to safety

Working safely
Read the operating instructions!
Prior to commissioning, read the package insert and the operating instructions.
Attention!
Access to or changes on the devices, except where expressly described in the package insert
and operating manual, are not authorized.
The device must not be opened. Failure to comply will render the guarantee void. Warranted
features cannot be guaranteed after the device has been opened.
Connection, mounting, commissioning and adjustment by specialist personnel only.
Observe applicable legal normatives and accident-prevention regulations (responsibility of
the owner).
During commissioning, protect device against moisture and soiling. Observe operating volt-
age, protection class, VDE safety class and protective circuit.
The system in which the laser measurement system is embedded is to be designed in such
a way that, in the event of laser measurement system malfunction or failure of the voltage
supply, persons and property are not placed at risk (protected against consequential dam-
ages - fail safe).
The AMS 3xx
i
is not a safety component according to EU machine guidelines. They are not,
therefore, usable for safety functions.
Attention, laser radiation!
The AMS 3xxi operates with a red light laser of class 2 acc. to EN 60825-1. If you look
into the beam path over a longer time period, the retina of your eye may be damaged!
Never look directly into the beam path!
