Enabling the External Management Port
The ability to access and manage the switch through the external management port
can be enabled or disabled from the CMM.
When disabled, the switch must be managed through the CMM. This is the
default.
When enabled, the switch can be managed either through the CMM or a
management station that is connected through the external management port.
To enable management through external ports, complete the following steps:

Log on to the CMM CLI as described CMM documentation. If necessary, obtain the
IP address of the CMM from your system administrator.

Set the environment to the bay where you installed the switch:

Execute the
ifconfig
command to enable external management:

You should now be able to manage the switch using its external management port.
Note:
“External management” refers to means other than by the CMM. To
externally manage the switch, the external management port (EXTM)
interface must be configured. For more information see the

Guide
for your specific switch and its installed firmware.
