2. GETTING STARTED: ANALYSIS OF THE CLIENT SITE

During the visit to the facilities of the client, ensure that:
• The structure of the customer is capable to support the weight of the photovoltaic installation.
• The client has all the permissions for the construction of the photovoltaic system.

1.4 Compliance requirements of the installation

The installation must be made in accordance with the regulations in force in the place of installation.
The LEAF Microinverter M500-S must always be installed on a branch circuit with an external transient surge suppressor that
must meet the requirements set out in IEC 61643-1 class II.
Where required, a dedicated detaching device must be installed.

4.3 Connecting to the PV panels

The LEAF M500-S microinverters may be connected to 1 or 2 photovoltaic modules, depending on module charateristcs: in the
case of connection to a pair of modules, these must be previously connected in series as shown in figure 4.5.

Plug the DC connectors until the latch.
The DC connectors between the photovoltaic module and the LEAF Microinverter M500-S ìmust not be opened during
operation of the microinverter: ensure that the PV system is disconnected from the AC grid before detaching the DC connectors.

Construction works of the PV system must be carried out carefully following the safety instructions for of the workplace, based
on local regulations.

direct or indirect contact, only RCD or RCM Type B on the supply side of this product can be applied

Voltage drop in the AC wiring.
An excessive length of the AC cables at the output of the microinverter may cause a voltage drop of a value such as to
impair the connection to the distribution network: to ensure the efficient operation of the system, the voltage drop in the
AC wiring harness must be checked through direct measurement (ideal), or through calculations, graphs or tables.
In case of excessive voltage drop, use cables with a larger cross-section.

Installation test, initial inspection
Before connecting to the mains, the wiring must be checked and tested to ensure that the regulatory requirements have
been met.
The type and level of the tests must comply with the local and national rules.
The tests and the interpretation of the results should be conducted by qualified persons.

The LEAF Microinverter M500-S has no user-serviceable parts: do not try to open it or to carry out repairs.
Opening or tampering the LEAF Microinverter M500-S, and all the LEAF accessories, will result in immediate termination
of the guarantee.
In case of fault, contact the installer or the LEAF customer support.

Once fixed to the structure of the photovoltaic system, no weights shall be put on top of the LEAF Microinverter M500-S.
In any case, avoid falling objects or weights exceeding 10kg to be placed on top of the microinverter.
