Adjusting the Cutting Height
Adjusting the cutting height may bring you into
contact with the moving blade, causing serious
injury.
•
Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts to
stop.
•
Do not put your fingers under the housing when
adjusting the cutting height.
If the engine has been running, the muffler will be
hot and can severely burn you. Keep away from the
hot muffler.
Adjust the cutting height as desired. Set all four wheels to
the same height.
Note:
To raise the mower, move the front cutting height
levers forward and the rear cutting height levers rearward;
to lower the mower, move the front levers rearward and
the rear levers forward.
Note:
Only a front cutting height lever is shown. The
rear cutting height levers operate in the opposite direction
to achieve the same result.

Adjusting the Upper Handle
Height
You may raise or lower the upper handle to a position
comfortable for you.
Note:
You cannot raise the upper handle higher than the
angle of the lower handle.
1. Loosen the upper handle knob (Figure 18).

2. Move the upper handle to the desired position (Figure

3. Tighten the upper handle knob as tight as you can

Starting the Engine
Important:
The mower has a safety switch that
prevents you from starting the mower unless you first
install the mulch plug or the grass bag securely on
the mower.
1. Install the mulch plug (Figure 21) or the grass bag
(Figure 22) on the mower.
