file icon displays in-line with the file name to indicate that you are seeing a
data file and not live data.
8.2.2 Using Load Settings
From a data file, you can load the measurement Setup properties used to create the data
file into the Active setup.
Before you begin:
• Save your current Active settings to a new Setup file, if needed. Settings in the
Active setup will be lost.
• Stop any measurement currently running or paused.
Step 1.
On the 831C, go to
Tools

Step 2.
Highlight the desired data file, press Menu (

), and select Load Settings
from the pop-up menu. (No confirmation appears.)
Step 3.
Close (

) the Data Manager, go to Tools

Setup Manager , and select
Active from the file list. Press the right or left softkeys (

) to examine the
Setup properties.
8.2.3 Using Create Average
Create Average takes a saved data file and adds its average as an instance to the unsaved
Overall measurement.
•
CAUTION
: Any unsaved measurement is overwritten with the new average
instance.
• You can add multiple files to the average. Each appears as a new instance in the
Overall measurement pages. However, each file can only be added once.
• A measurement can run after the averages are loaded. But this isn’t
recommended for averaging purposes.
• After data files are averaged, you can save the new data as a single file.
Follow these steps to create an average of your data file(s):
Step 1.
Navigate to
Tools

 Data File Manager.
Step 2.
Highlight the desired data file, and select Menu (

).
Step 3.
Select
Create Average
from the pop-up menu.
Step 4.
In the File manager, highlight a different data file, and select Menu (

).
Step 5.
Select
Add to Average
from the pop-up menu.
