The warming grate can be used to
hold food that is done. The warming
grate is further away from the coals
and is not as hot as the cooking
grate. The warming grate can also be
used to warm bread.

1. First determine the cooking site. The site should be away
from buildings, flammable items and vehicles.
2. Adjust the lid and bowl vents to wide open.
3. Open the lid and remove the cooking grate and set off to the
side. Put approximately 40-60 charcoal briquettes on the
charcoal grate. Light according to the briquette manufacturer
instructions.
4. Carefully place the cooking grate back inside the grill and wait
for the charcoal to ash over (usually about 20 minutes).
5. Add food to cooking grate and cook food to desired
preference.
6. Use caution when operating the grill. Surfaces will be very
hot.
7. Adjusting the air vents controls the cooking temperature,
the more open the vents, the hotter the fire.
8. To extinguish the coals, close air vents and lid.
9. Let the coals burn completely out before cleaning out the ash.

10. To clean the ash from the barrel, turn the vent(s) so the ash
cleanout slot is wide open. Remove the charcoal and
cooking grates. Sweep or move the ashes out
through the slot.
