Connect Grapple

Check hitch fit-up frequently. An improper fit-up can cause
the attachment to come loose from the loader hitch plate
and fall.
This Root Grapple is designed for tractors with a front
mounted loader with Universal Quick Attach Hitch.
1.
Check loader and grapple hitch plates before
connecting the grapple. Ensure all components are
in good working condition before putting them into
service.
a. Check for and remove any debris in the loader
and grapple hitch plates.
b. Check for structural cracks in the hitch plates.
Repair or replace hitch plates as needed.
c. Check hitch components frequently. Repair or
replace any part that is excessively worn, bent,
broken, or missing.
d. Check operation of lock handles. Lock handles
must move freely and lock pins must extend fully
into the hitch plate bottom slots on the grapple.

Rotate lock handles on the tractor loader hitch fully
up.
3.
Return to the operator’s seat, fasten seat belt, start
tractor and drive slowly to the grapple while making
sure the loader’s top angle bars are parallel with the
grapple’s top angle bars.
4.
Tilt top of loader hitch plate slightly forward.
5.
Place top of loader’s top angle bars under the
grapple’s top angle bars and slowly raise loader hitch
plate up until the loader top angle bars are seated
under the top angle bars of the grapple.
6.
Tilt top of loader hitch plate back until the grapple’s
hitch plate makes full contact with the face of loader
hitch plate and the grapple is slightly off the ground.

Shut tractor down before dismounting. Follow

Rotate lock handles on the tractor loader hitch fully
down.
9.
Check hitch connection to verify it is locked properly.
a. Ensure loader’s top angle bars are fully seated
under the grapple’s top angle bars.
b. Ensure loader’s hitch plates are seated against
the grapple’s hitch plates.
10. Ensure lock pins are fully inserted through bottom
slots on the grapple hitch plate and are fully down.
