Section 1: Assembly & Set-Up
Tractor Requirements
Tractor horsepower should be within the range noted
below. Tractors outside the horsepower range must not
be used.

To avoid serious injury or death:
Make sure that the intended tractor conforms to the
requirements provided on this page. Also, read and
understand this Operator’s Manual for your Root
Grapple. An understanding of how it works will aid in its
assembly and set-up.
IMPORTANT:
Do not hitch RG10 Series grapples to
skid steers. The RG10 Series grapples are not
intended for skid steers use.
NOTE:
If your Kubota tractor loader does not have
a third function valve kit, one that will fit your Kubota
tractor can be purchased from your Land Pride
dealer.
A cylinder rod shield accessory kit can be purchased
from your Land Pride dealer.
If you are attaching this grapple to a non-Kubota
tractor, some customer modifications to the standard
hydraulic hoses may be required to complete the
hose connection to your tractor loader or tractor.
Go through the
before assembling the Root Grapple. To speed up your
assembly task and make the job safer, have all needed
parts and equipment readily at hand.
Torque Requirements
Refer to
“Torque Values Chart”
on page 22 to determine
correct torque values when tightening hardware.
Tractor Shutdown Procedure
The following are basic tractor shutdown procedures.
Follow these procedures and any additional shutdown
procedures provided in your tractor Operator’s Manual
before leaving the operator’s seat.
1.
Reduce engine speed and shut-off all power to the
attachment.
2.
Park tractor and attachment on solid, level ground.
3.
Lower attachment until it is flat on the ground or on
non-concrete support blocks.
4.
Put tractor in park or set park brake, turn off engine,
and remove ignition key to prevent unauthorized
starting.
5.
Relieve all hydraulic pressure to auxiliary hydraulic
lines.
6.
Wait for all components to come to a complete stop
before leaving the operator’s seat.
7.
Use steps, grab-handles and anti-slip surfaces when
stepping on and off the tractor.
Pre-Assembly Checklist
Check
Ref.
Have a hoist, forklift, or loader with properly sized chains and
safety stands capable of lifting and supporting the equipment
on hand.
Have a minimum of two people available during assembly.
Make sure all major components and loose
parts are shipped with the attachment.
Operator’s
Manual
Double check to make sure all parts, fasteners,
and pins are installed in the correct location.
Refer to the Parts Manual if unsure.
NOTE:
All assembled hardware from the
factory has been installed in the correct
location. Remember location of a part or
fastener if removed. Keep parts separated.

Make sure working parts move freely, bolts are
tight & cotter pins are spread.
Operator’s
Manual
Make sure all grease fittings are in place and
lubricated.
Make sure all safety labels are correctly
located and legible. Replace if damaged.
