The down pressure kit is ready for operating after it has
been properly installed on the Post Hole Digger (see
following pages for Assembly Instructions). This kit
should be used only on hard soils where the auger will
not penetrate the ground on its own.
Normal digging operations are made with remote control
lever for the down pressure cylinder in neutral position.
When encountering hard soil, move control lever in the
proper direction to apply pressure. When lever is held in
this position, hydraulic pressure will not exceed 1500 psi.
Return control lever to neutral to continue normal digging
operations.

Down Pressure Kit Assembly
Refer to Figure 4-9:
1. Lower Post Hole Digger unit until auger point is
resting on the ground.
2. Remove cotter pins (#2) holding pivot pin (#3) in
place.
3. Partially remove pivot pin to the right side until spacer
(#1) can be removed from the left side.

HD25/35 3-Point Down Pressure Kit

Land Pride offers a Down Pressure Kit for 3-point Post
Hole Diggers to provide additional digging force in hard
soil by use of a hydraulic cylinder (#1) to press down on
the boom. The down pressure created is between 300
and 500 lbs depending on mounting configuration.

DANGER!
To prevent serious injury or death:
•
Hydraulic fluid under high pressure will penetrate skin.
Wear protective gloves and safety glasses or goggles when
working with hydraulic systems. Use a piece of cardboard
or wood rather than hands when searching for leaks. If
hydraulic fluid is injected into the skin or eyes, it must be
treated by a doctor familiar with this type of injury within a
few hours or gangrene may result. DO NOT DELAY.
•
Disengage power take-off, put tractor in park or set park
brake, shut tractor engine off, remove switch key, and wait
for all moving components to stop before dismounting
tractor to service implement.

WARNING!
To prevent serious injury or death:
Relieve all hydraulic pressure before disconnecting any lines
or pipes between implement and tractor hydraulic system.

IMPORTANT: Not providing some form of down
pressure relief to the hydraulic system can damage
the Post Hole Digger and tractor when raising auger.
IMPORTANT: The “Down Pressure” relief valve is
factory set to 1500 psi and must not be changed.
Exceeding this pressure can damage equipment.
