MAINTENANCE
CLEANING
Clean with a damp, lint-free cloth.
DO NOT ALLOW WATER TO ENTER THE COLORIMETER
CHAMBER OR ANY OTHER PARTS OF THE METER.
BATTERY CARE
The colorimeter may be run on battery power or AC using the AC
adapter. It may also be run on a car battery with the optional Cigarette
Lighter adapter. If using the meter as a benchtop unit, keep it plugged in
if possible. If used on only battery power, it is best to recharge the unit at
the end of the day.
To recharge the SMART Colorimeter, plug the AC adapter into the back
of the colorimeter and into a reliable power outlet. Be sure the Battery
Disconnect Button is set at the “in position”. The “in position”
electrically connects the battery to the colorimeter for charging and for
subsequent battery power operation.
The colorimeter battery is fully charged at the factory. However,
discharge will occur at a rate of 2% per month.
If the battery is low, the meter will still function, but only for a limited
number of tests. When the unit is turned on, there will be a message on
the top line of the display.
The
BATTERY LOW!!
message will disappear after
several seconds. At this point, it is possible to run
some tests on battery power alone. Test results
will not be affected when this message has been
displayed. This message may also be displayed
temporarily after a test is performed, because the
battery is checked after each test. However, it is
strongly suggested that the AC adapter or the
Cigarette Lighter adapter be used to run any tests
and fully recharge battery as soon as possible.
