Fume sensor (fume thermostat) safety device
The boiler is equipped with a device to control the evacuation of fumes. If there are any anomalies in the
fume evacuation system with consequent return of burnt gas in the environment, the unit shuts down
and the anomaly is signalled by indicator light
7
fig. 1 blinking. The hood is equipped with a temperature
sensor bulb for measuring and controlling the fume temperature.
Any leak of burnt gases into the environment causes an increase in the temperature detected by the
bulb, which causes the boiler to turn off within 2 minutes shutting off the gas to the burner. If the fume
sensor trips, identify the trouble, open the front panel of the boiler and press the reset button
10
fig. 1. The boiler will resume operation.
If the sensor has to be replaced due to breakdown, only use original accessories and ensure that the
electrical connections and positioning of the bulb have been correctly carried out.
The fume sensor must not be cut-out for any reason!
Draining the boiler and heating system
• To drain the boiler, use the drain cock
233
of Fig. 13 after closing the
valves for filling from the water mains; use a hot water sampling point
as a vent (washbasin, shower, etc.).
• To drain the heating system completely, use the cock
275
of fig. 13 after
freeing the shutters of the two non-return valves part
276
of fig. 13 (see
fig. alongside too). Use the radiator valves as vents.
If the boiler is connected to the system by service gate valves, check
they open fully. If the boiler is positioned higher than the radiators, the
part of the system including the radiators must be drained separately.
Before filling the system again, remember to close the drain cock
and radiator vent valves as well as to lock the shutters of the non-
return valves
276
of fig. 13.
