Checking the system boiler (to be done once a year)
The system is generally checked at the end of the season. It is necessary to make sure that the water in
the heating circuit tank is under pressure. It is necessary to check the circulators are in a good state of
repair and that they work properly.
Check the proper ignition of the boiler by performing tests, turning it on and off with the control
thermostat.
Check that the combustion gases do not come out at the rear of the boiler at the level of the anti-backflow
device, which would be a sign of the flue being obstructed or there being poor draught.
Check the efficiency of the flue while the boiler is working.
Make sure that the piping joining the boiler and the flue is airtight at the joints.
Make sure that if there is no burner flame the device shuts down and the warning light on the reset
button
5
of fig. 1 comes on.
During “Winter” operation, check that hot tap water production has priority over heating.
3.2 System start-up
Commissioning must be performed by Qualified Personnel such as the staff of our Sales
Organization and your local After-Sales Technical Service.
Checks to be made at first ignition, and after all maintenance operations that involved disconnecting
from the systems or an intervention on safety devices or parts of the boiler:
Before lighting the boiler:
• Open any on-off valves between the boiler and the systems.
• Check the airtightness of the gas system, proceeding with caution and using a soap and water
solution to detect any leaks in connections.
• Fill the water system and make sure that all air contained in the boiler and the system has been
vented by opening the air vent valve on the boiler and any vent valves on the system.
• Make sure there are no water leaks in the system, hot water circuits, connections or boiler.
• Make sure the electrical system is properly connected.
• Make sure that the unit is connected to a good earthing system.
• Make sure that the pressure and gas flow values are those required for heating.
• Make sure there are no flammable liquids or materials in the immediate vicinity of the boiler.
Lighting the boiler
• Open the gas valve ahead of the boiler.
• Vent the air from the pipe ahead of the gas valve.
• Turn on or insert any switch or plug ahead of the boiler
• Turn the main switch onto ON.
• Turn the selector
3
(fig.1) onto “Winter“ .
• Turn knob
2
(fig. 1) to a value above 50°C and the room thermostat knob, if applicable, onto the
desired temperature setting. At this point, the burner will light and the boiler begins to function
automatically, controlled by its adjustment and safety devices.
If, after correctly carrying out the lighting procedure, the burners do not light and the shutdown
light comes on, wait about 15 seconds and then press button
5
of fig. 1. The reset controller
will repeat the ignition cycle. If the burners do not light after the second attempt, consult the
“Troubleshooting” paragraph.
