7. Technical Specifications
7.1. ISO Compatibility
An .ISO file is an image of a DVD disc. This is a common format for DOS, Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and other operating
systems. The LaCie silverscreen has the ability to playback .ISO files. ISO files of commercial DVDs will not play back due to
encryption.
7.2. DivX® Compatibility
DivX® is a new format for digital video, which utilizes a patent-pending video compression technology, based on the MPEG-
4 compression standard. The LaCie silverscreen is fully compatible with the DivX® format and can playback any video
encoded with this format, including versions 3.11, 4.x and 5.x. Please see section

7.3. XviD Compatibility
The LaCie silverscreen is fully compatible with the XviD format (an ISO, MPEG-4 compliant video codec), and can play any
video encoded with this compression format.

Tech Note:
In order for the LaCie silverscreen to display subtitles in the DivX format, both the “movie.avi” and
“movie.str” files should be placed in the same directory. Also, the subtitle file should be a Unicode file.
