•Sense solid-state catheters
The procedure to prepare the catheters is as follows:
▪
Connect the catheters to the WPU-eS as follows:
o
The blue connector of the pressure catheter (with bladder pressure
or bladder and urethral pressure) should be connected to input P1/3
(blue) of the WPU-eS.
o
The red connector of the abdominal pressure catheter should be
connected to input P2 (red).
▪
Press the
Zero
all
button to zero all pressures.
▪
Disinfect the genital area.
▪
Insert the bladder catheter and position the vesical pressure sensor (P
ves
) in
the bladder. If applicable, position the urethral pressure sensor (P
ura
) at the
maximum urethral pressure and fix the catheter.
▪
Insert the rectal catheter into the rectum and fix the catheter.
▪
Ask the patient to cough to check the registration of all pressures. The
spikes of P
ves,
P
abd
and P
ura
should rise equally in response to the cough
and the detrusor pressure (P
det
) should remain relatively flat.
▪
Start the investigation (cystometry, pressure-flow study, UPP, or
gynecology study, see chapters 5 to 8).
Disconnection of the catheter
For easy disconnection of the catheter, press the retention clip of the catheter
while simultaneously holding one finger under the wing.

Air-Charged Catheters
Air-charged catheters can be used to perform pressure measurements in
bladder, urethra, and rectum. The bladder catheter has one or two pressure
sensors with one filling lumen. One sensor is for measuring pressures in the
bladder (P
ves
), the second sensor is for measuring pressures in the urethra
