7.
Prepare to weld chain guard mounts (#11 & #12) to
the seeder’s steel frame.
8. Start by tacking each chain guard mount (#11 & #12)
in multiple places to the seeder’s steel frame.
9. Carefully remove chain guard (#10) from the seeder
by unthreading all three hand knobs (B). Remove
both lower hand knobs first.
10. Verify angle measurements of tacked chain guard
mounts (#11 & #12) are within one degree of their
specified angles shown in Figure 1-4 on page 3.
11. With the chain guard removed, add additional tacks
to chain guard mounts (#11 & #12).
12. Verify chain guard (#10) can still be secured to the
seeder with all three hand knobs (B), then carefully
remove the chain guard once more.
13. Weld both sides of chain guard mounts (#11 & #12) to
the seeder frame.
14. Use a chisel or putty knife to remove any excess weld
spatter from the seeder frame.
IMPORTANT:
Before welding, retighten each hand

IMPORTANT:
To avoid having to rework bad welds,
use a clean welding nozzle, and ensure the welding
machine is functioning properly by doing a test run on
scrap metal.
IMPORTANT:
Be sure to not exceed the specified
fillet weld size for each chain guard mount shown
15. After welding chain guard mounts (#11 & #12) to the
seeder frame, verify chain guard (#10) can still be
secured with all three hand knobs (B).
16. Remove chain guard (#10) and allow the welded
components to cool.
17. Wipe down and clean seeder where the new chain
guard mounts (#11 & #12) were welded.
18. Add touch-up paint to the newly installed
components and seeder frame. If touch-up paint
needs to be purchased, refer to the table below for
ordering information.
Installing Rear Roller Axle Sprocket
Refer to Figure 1-6:
1. Install sprocket (#2) onto rear roller axle (X), then
align sprocket bolt hole with bolt hole on rear roller
axle.
2. Secure sprocket (#2) to rear roller axle (X) with
1/4-20x2 3/4 GR8 bolt (#32) and flange hex
nut (#39). Tighten hardware to 12 ft-lbs (16 N
·
m).
3. Secure flange hex nut (#39) with hex nut (#33).
