11.0 Air Nozzles.
The nozzles distributing the air in the combustion chamber are mounted in the rear plate and maintained
by fireproof joint filler. This kind of mounting allows for easy exchange, if necessary.
The bottom nozzles must be placed so that the air is blown across the fuel in an angle of about 45
degrees.
The holes in the top nozzle just have to point forward in an oblique direction.
It may be necessary to dismount the nozzles to clean them from ashes. KSM recommend that they are
cleaned once a year before the start of the new heating season.
However, a more frequent cleaning may be required by bio fuel types such as olive stones and grain. It is
easy to find out if this is necessary as the stoker will run more than normal in Step 2 and 3.
The nozzles are loosened by knocking them with a hammer, then they may be pulled out with a suitable
pair of tongs.
NOTE: Before remounting, do not forget to coat them with gun gum and to mount them in the correct
angle as shown in the above drawing.
