Operating the pump unit with a frequency inverter entails the
risk of interference signals being emitted by the electrical
connection cable, which may affect the environment.
To eliminate such signals, shielded cables with concentric
copper braiding must be used. Make sure that the shield ends
have contact over a large area of the terminal compartments in
the motor and the frequency inverter.
The following limit values for the voltage supply
of the motor must not be exceeded:

6 Commissioning, start-up / shutdown
It is imperative to fill the pump with the medium to be
handled prior to commissioning!
Dry running may cause severe damage!
Dry-running may result in high temperatures exceeding
the permissible temperature classes and must be
prevented.
Compliance with the following requirements is
of paramount importance. Damage resulting
from non-compliance shall not be covered by the scope of
warranty.
6.1 Commissioning
Before starting up the pump for the first time or returning it to
service, make sure that the following points have been checked
and fulfilled.
6.1.1 Priming the pump
Before start-up, the pump and the suction line must be primed
with the liquid to be pumped. Open the shut-off valves in the
suction line and the discharge line, respectively, and prime the
pump unit for approx. 5 minutes. Then close the shut-off valve
in the discharge line.
If a main flow filter is used, the pipe between the
motor housing and the main flow filter must be
laid with a steady rise so that the rotor space can be vented via
the filter.

If, for handling specific media, barrier liquid is to
be fed via connection 10 E, the pump set must
be filled with barrier liquid through this connection for 5 minutes
beforehand. The shut-off valve in the discharge line must be
open, the shut-off valve in the suction line must be closed while
this is done.

After filling has been completed, turn off the barrier liquid feed
and proceed as follows:
For positive suction operation
Open the shut-off valve in the suction head line and vent the
system up to the discharge-side shut-off valve.
For suction lift operation
Open the shut-off valve in the suction lift line, evacuate the air
from the pump and the suction line. The min. permissible
pressure is 0.1 bar (absolute).
If necessary, an extension pipe is fitted to
connection 10 E and/or 10 B of vertically
installed pumps.
6.1.1.1 Heating
Heatable pump casing:
The pump casing can be heated with hot water or saturated
steam, for example.
To observe explosion protection regulations as per
Directive 94/9/EC, the surface temperature of the pump
casing has to be limited as well. The following supply
temperatures of the heating medium have to be observed:

Motor standstill heater
The motor standstill heater is factory-set. In continuous
operation, the rotor space may be heated up to 80-100

C.
Temperature class T4 is observed in this case.
For operation at temperature classes T5 or T6, the
external temperature measuring point of the rotor space
and/or the integrated PTC resistors must be used for tripping
the motor standstill heater.
The motor standstill heater is set to the rotor space temperature
required (T<100

C) by means of a control unit combined with
a measuring resistor fitted to the can of the rotor space.
