When you have got everything, familiarize yourself with the construction of „Nordstrand“. This causes the least
bother, if you prepare the various parts for assembly at the same time: Remove the surplus material from the
vacuum moulded parts as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 on the following pages, cut out the apertures and eventually
remove the Small parts from the vacuum moulded as well as from the diecut ABS-, PVC- and plywood sheets.
Sand their outlines and then drill, saw and cut the following holes and apertures:
Hull 1 - one 4 mm dia. hole for rudder trunk 5,
RC base plates 17 - two 3 mm dia. holes each for screws 18 as well as apertures and
mounting holes to fit your RC equipmert,
Engine mount 20 - four 2 mm dia. holes for screws 24,
Cabin 32 - four 2 mm dia. holes for handrails 110, sixteen 2 mm dia. holes for
handholds 108, two 3 mm dia. holes for vents 109, four window apertures,
Saloon 33 - eight window apertures,
Wheel house 35 - five window apertures,
Awning deck 38 - four 1 mm dia. holes for eyebolts 121, twelve 2 mm dia. holes for
stanchion foots 122,
Wheel-house roof 43 - one 2 mm dia. hole for foghorn 123,
Windlass casing 53 - one 2 mm dia. hole for control lever 57, two 3 mm dia. holes for shaft 54,
Flagstaff holder 63 - one 3 mm dia. hole for flagstaff 62,
Steps 65 and 79 - two 2 mm dia. holes each for handrails 64 and 72, Throttle lever
console 84 - one 1.5 mm dia. hole for throttle lever 85,
Wheel console 87 - one 3 mm dia. hole for wheel 88,
Masthead fitting 92 - two 1 mm dia. holes for shrouds 127,
Bathing platform 1o6 - two 2 mm dia. holes for handrails 64.
Thereafter, guided by the parts list, cut the total of 24 parts 19, 29, 30, 39 and 15 off the 5x5x500 mm pine strip.
While assembling your „Nordstrand“, the various cements should be used as follows, if no other instructions are
given :
ABS-cement - for engine mount, bulwark edges, fire-extinguishers, fenders,
ringbuoys and life raft,
Stabilit Express - for rudder trunk, rudder and stern tube,
CA-cement - for all other parts. Please note that CA-cement sticks best, if used as
sparingly as possible. Properly used, one 10 g bottle is ample to
cement all parts of this model.
To assemble your „Nordstrand“ and to store and transport it later on, you can‘t do without a cradle, made up
from the two bearers A and B and the spacers C. The kit does not include the required material, but as thick-
ness and cross section are not critical, you will certainly find some suitable pieces of ply and strip wood in the
scrap box of your workshop.
