PCI-AOB8/12 (16/12) User’s Guide

How to Use This Guide

This guide is designed to be used as step-by-step instructions for installation and programming
and as a reference for operation and troubleshooting.

The following is a summary of the chapter contents:

Chapter 1, Introduction,

describes the PCI-AOB8/12 (16/12) A/D converter

features and provides PCI-AOB8/12 (16/12) specifications.

Chapter 2, Installation,

provides software and system installation instructions. It

also describes the directory structure created when the software is installated.

Chapter 3, Option Selection,

describes how to change the output voltage ranges

using the board switches and how analog outputs are updated under program
control.

Chapter 4, Address Selection,

describes how I/O address spaces are used by the

board and how to determine the board’s base address and IRQ level assigned by
the BIOS or operating system.

Chapter 5, Programming,

describes the different update modes for the analog

outputs and describes how to program the digital I/O circuit.

Chapter 6, 8245 Counter/Timer,

provides an overview of the 8245 counter/timer,

including operating modes, programming, operation, and driver.

Chapter 7, Software,

provides examples of code for the board.

Chapter 8, Calibration,

describes how to calibrate the board using the calibration

program.

Chapter 9, Connector Pin Assignments,

provides the connector pin assignments

for the DAC 37-pin D type connector, 40-pin IDC header, and the 37-pin digital I/O
and counter/timer connector.
