Turn the Outer Helicoid (46) all the way to the infinity stop (see Figure 5). The distance A,
from the shoulder on the Focusing Limit Ring (51) to the rear rim of the Inner Helicoid (44),
shall now be 10mm, and the distance B, between the front rim of the Outer Helicoid (46)
and the ridge on the front rim of the Cam Ring (34), shall be 1mm, as shown in Figure 5.
2.8 If the dimensions A and B in Figure 5 are as specified in paragraph 2.7, proceed with
paragraph 2.9. If A and B differ from the specified values, proceed as follows (the following
procedure will also apply when the helicoids are randomly assembled without reference to
pre-marked starting thread):
(1) Make sure the two Helicoid Guide Plates are correctly mounted per paragraph 2.7.
(2) Loosen the two setscrews (48) on the Helicoid Stopper Ring (47).
(3) Holding the Focusing Limit Ring (51), turn the Outer Helicoid (46) until
distance A is 10mm (or distance B is 1mm).
(4) Maintaining this position, turn the Helicoid Stopper Ring (47) to the infinity stop,
and tighten the two setscrews (48).
2.9 Turn the Outer Helicoid (46) until the two screw holes in the Middle Ring (37) are exposed
through the two roller tracks on the Outer Helicoid.
Replace the Zoom Drive Ring (9) and two sets of Washer (10), Roller (11) and Roller
Shaft (12). It is advisable to replace the old washer (10) with a new washer at reassembly.
Cement should be applied to the roller’s shafts.
