OPERATION & ADJUSTMENTS
WARNINg!
Turn off the saw, remove the main On/Off switch safety key and
unplug the power cord before making any adjustments on the saw.
CHANgINg SPEED (1476 OR 3280 SFPM)/ TENSIONINg BELT
This Bandsaw is capable of two cutting speeds (1476 or 3280 SFPM). To change
cutting speed:
1) Open lower blade cover.
2) Turn motor belt tension knob (A) Fig.18 counterclockwise to slacken the motor
belt (B).
3) Reposition the belt (B) on the appropriate wheel pulley and motor pulley to
obtain the desired speed setting. Refer to Fig.19 for belt positions and
corresponding speed.
4) Once the motor belt is repositioned on the appropriate motor pulley and lower
wheel pulley, motor belt needs to be properly tensioned. Turn motor belt
tension knob (A) Fig.18 clockwise to tension the motor belt (B). Proper belt
tension is obtained when there is approximately 1/2” deflection in the belt when
finger pressure is applied on the belt.
5) Close lower blade cover.
ADJUSTINg POSITION OF UPPER BLADE gUIDE ASSEMBLY
1) The upper blade guide assembly (A) Fig.20 should be adjusted to just above
the material being cut.
2) To adjust: Loosen lock knob (B) and raise or lower upper blade guide assembly
(A) by turning height adjustment knob (C).
ADJUSTINg UPPER BLADE gUIDE ASSEMBLY
After installing a different blade, it is necessary to adjust the upper and lower blade
guide assemblies. To adjust upper blade guide assembly:
1) Disconnect machine from power source.
2) The upper blade guide housing (B) Fig.21 must be adjusted so that the blade
rests between the guide bearings (E). Loosen lock knob (A), adjust the position
of the upper blade guide housing and retighten lock knob (A).
3) The thrust bearing (not shown) which sits behind the blade must be adjusted to
just clear the back of the blade. Loosen lock knob (C) and move lock
knob/thrust bearing assembly towards the rear of the blade. Once positioned to
just clear the rear of the blade, retighten lock knob (C).
4) The upper blade guide housing (B) Fig.21 must be set straight. If the angle of
the upper blade guide housing needs adjusting, loosen set screw (D), reposition
the upper blade guide housing and retighten set screw (D).
5) Now both guide bearings (E) Fig.21 must be set to 0.02” (0.5mm) from the
blade to offer adequate support. If the guide bearings need to be adjusted,
loosen cap screws (F). Adjust position of each guide bearing and retighten cap
screws once the adjustment is made.
