Description
This manual includes installation and wiring information for the
following mounting bases:
Base Description
KZ705 Standard mounting base for conventional and
addressable fire alarm systems.
KZ705D Standard mounting base with diode for conventional fire
alarm systems.
KZ705I Standard mounting base with isolator for addressable
fire alarm systems.
KZD705 Deep mounting base for conventional and addressable
fire alarm systems.
Wiring
Caution: To ensure correct operation of your system, you
must follow the recommended cabling practices described
below.
The cable used should:
• Have a cross-sectional area of at least 1.5 mm
2
•
Have maximum resistance of 13.3 Ω/km per core
Direct cable connection
The KZD705 deep mounting base allows for direct cable
connection by breaking the cable entry tab (see figure 4). The
maximum cable width is 10 mm.
KZ705, KZ705D, and KZ705I mounting bases allow for direct
cable and tube connection using a S700 adapter (not
supplied).
Connection
Connect the detector base as shown in Figures 1 to 3:

End-of-line connection:
• KZ705 / KZD705: connect contacts 1 and 3.
• KZ705D: connect contacts 1 and 4.
All bases except the KZ705D require an earth connection.
Maintenance and testing
Basic maintenance consists of a yearly inspection. Do not
modify the internal wiring or circuitry.
Test procedure for KZ705, KZD705, and KZ705D bases:
1. Remove the detector head from the base.
2. If the control panel fails to indicate the test all connections
should be checked and the unit address verified (where
applicable).
Test procedure for KZ705I bases:
1. Remove the detector head from the base and verify that
the correct alarm is produced at the control panel.
2. Test the isolator by provoking a short circuit between
connectors 1 and 6, verifying that the isolator status LED
indicates this action. Repeat for connectors 1 to 7.
3. If the status LED and control panel fail to indicate the test,
all connections should be checked and the unit address
verified (where applicable).
