Product Firmware Updates
As new product features and enhancements become available, you can easily
update your mainframe and plug-in module firmware to ensure optimum
compatibility. The latest firmware updates are available from the Keysight 34980A
product page at
www.keysight.com/find/34980AUpdates
Front Panel Operation:
Utility > FIRMWARE > UPDATE
Once you have downloaded the latest mainframe firmware (see above), use the
knob to scroll through the installed modules that require a firmware update. To
exit the menu without installing the updates, select CANCEL.
Instrument State Storage
The instrument has five storage locations in non-volatile memory to store
instrument states, numbered 1 through 5. You can assign a user-defined name to
each of locations 1 through 5.
– You can store the instrument state in any of the five locations, but you can only
recall a state from a location that contains a previously stored state.
– The instrument stores the state of all plug-in modules including all channel
configurations, scanning setups, and Mx+B scaling values. However, note that
only the measurement attributes of the currently-selected function (range,
resolution, etc.) will be preserved in the stored states.
– Before recalling a stored state, the instrument verifies that the same plug-in
module types are installed in each slot. If a different module type is installed,
the instrument will perform the equivalent of a Factory Reset (
*RST
command)
and an error will be generated.
– When shipped from the factory, storage locations 1 through 5 are empty. In
addition, the automatic recall mode is disabled (
MEMory:STATe:RECall:AUTO
OFF
command) and a Factory Reset (
*RST
command) is issued when power is
turned on.
