3.5.7.1
LAN FACTORY DEFAULTS
The factory default LAN interface settings are listed below, however, actual unit settings may dif-
fer from those shown below depending upon whether the LAN is active (or connected).
•
DHCP: ON
•
AUTOIP:
ON
•
PING:
ON (can only be changed through web interface)
•
IP Address:
Undefined
•
MASK Address:
255.255.255.0
•
GATE Address:
0.0.0.0
•
DNS Address:
0.0.0.0
These default setting can be restored using the LAN Reset button (see Figure 2-1) or configured
as desired from the web interface (see PAR. 3.5.7.2).
If the LAN connection is active when the LAN Reset button is pressed, the default values are as
shown above, except that IP, MASK, GATE and DNS addresses are retrieved from the LAN or
router and may differ from values shown
3.5.7.2
REMOTE PROGRAMMING USING THE WEB INTERFACE
Remote programming of the BOP 1KW-ME via the LAN port can be accomplished using a stan-
dard web browser connected to the internet. The factory default LAN settings of the BOP 1KW-
ME are DHCP on, AUTOIP on. When source power is applied to the power supply (e.g., circuit
breaker switched on), it first tries to find a DHCP server and get an IP address; during this time
the LAN indicator on the rear panel continues to blink. If a server is found and an address
assigned, the LAN indicator stays on without blinking.
If the server is not found after approximately 10 seconds, a duplicate address is supplied by the
DHCP, however if DHCP has been disabled, the unit will use AUTOIP to get an address. If an IP
address is found, the LAN indicator on the rear panel stays on without blinking. The range of
valid AUTOIP addresses is 169.254.000.000 through 169.254.254.255 inclusive. Note that the
Network Mask default for AUTOIP is 255.255.000.000. If an IP address is not found after two
seconds, the LAN indicator stays off.
3.5.7.3
TROUBLESHOOTING LAN COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS.
If the LAN indicator stays off:
•
First verify that the host end of the LAN connection is active (switch or hub is powered
on). These devices typically include indicators that indicate port activity, so if the port to
which the power supply is connected is inactive (dark), try connecting to a different port.
•
Inspect the LAN cable connections at both ends, ensuring that the plugs are fully
engaged with their respective receptacles. Try replacing the LAN cable with a cable
known to be good.
•
Verify that regardless whether the BOP 1KW-ME is connected directly to the computer's
LAN port or through a switch hub or router, the connection
is NOT made using a
null
modem (crossover) cable
that reverses the transmit and receive pairs. The BOP 1KW-
ME is Auto-MDI-X enabled and does not require a crossover cable for direct connection.
