Listening in Pure A M ode
Setting to pure A operation mode (pure A) is
recommended w hen listening w ith low volume
close to the set or late at night. Then you can
enjoy smooth high-quality sound w ith little
distortion.
Please use the normal mode to listen at higher
volumes.

The volume indication changes to an indication matching
the low volume.

When this is pressed again in pure A mode, normal mode

CAUTION
When pure A mode is selected, a certain amount of
pow er is used even w hen no music source is played
back, and the temperature of the amplifier section
w ill rise.

What is Pure A?
The amplifier section amplifies the voltage and current of the input signal from the CD etc. and sends the output to the
speakers. In order to suppress the distortion occurring w ith this amplification, amplifiers w ith class A operation or class AB
operation alw ays have current flow ing through the circuits for current amplification. This is called the idling circuit. Especially
an amplifier w ith class A operation has a high idling current in comparison to an amplifier w ith class AB operation, w hich
is used by many units. As the result, class A operation has distortion suppressed to a minimum, and smooth playback w ith
high quality is possible. How ever, as a certain amount of pow er is consumed even w hen no music source is played, the
temperature of the amplifier section w ill become comparatively high. Thus a high-class amplifier w ith a large-capacity
pow er supply is required to enjoy the sound quality of class A operation.
The amplifier of this unit normally operates in class AB operation, but as the high sound quality of class A operation can
be enjoyed easily, a class A operation mode for listening at low volume (pure A) has been provided. Please enjoy the pure
A sound quality w hen listening at low volume close to the set, late at night, etc.
