Preparing for surround sound
Speaker settings
To enable you to obtain optimum enjoyment from the amplifier’s listen-
ing modes, make sure to complete the speaker settings (subw oofer,
front, center, surround and surround back speakers) as described below .
If you purchase HTB-S500 system, you may skip step
2
to
4
.
Original settings of this amplifier are adjusted to KSW-S500
speakers.
The original settings are

: SW ON
Front
: FRONT NM L
Center
: CNTR NM L
Sorround : SURR NM L
Back surround : BS NM L
Subw oofer Re-M ix : REM IX ON

Turn on the pow er to this amplifier by pressing the
(POW ER) key.

Press the SET UP key to enter the SET UP mode.

Press the SETUP key to select the 6ch AM P setting.
The Back Surround and Subw oofer output selections are displayed
as follow s:

: SUB/W BS speaker t erm inal w ill out put
Subw oofer sound.

6ch BS
: SUB/W BS speaker terminal w ill output Back
Surround sound. Subw oofer pre out w ill have
output from SW only.

6ch OFF
: It is not advisable to use SUB/W BS speaker
terminal for this selection.

keys to select the speakers.
Press the
SETUP key to proceed to the next SETUP selection.
The flow of the SETUP is as follow s:

Select a speaker system.
If you have THX certified speakers, please set them to NM L.

Press the SETUP key again so that the subw oofer setting
indication “SW ON” appears.

keys to select the appropriate subw oofer
setting.

SW ON
: Subw oofer setting mode to the amplifier is
ON.

SW OFF
: Subw oofer setting mode to the amplifier is
OFF.
• When the setting “ SW OFF” is selected using the
SET UP key,
the front speakers are automatically set to “ FRONT LRG” and the
procedure skips to step

• The front speakers setting indication “ FRONT” appears.

FRONT LRG
: Large front speakers are connected
to the amplifier.

FRONT NM L
: Average size f ront speakers are
connected to the amplifier.
• For “ FRONT LRG” and “ SW ON” selection, no sound w ill be
heard f rom subw oof er speaker even w hen it is set t o on.
How ever, if you select “ REM IX ON” in step

w hen subw oofer
is selected, you w ill be able to hear sound from the subw oofer.

Press the SET UP key to accept the setting.
• The center speaker setting indication “ CNTR” appears.
