The duty of a square wave can e a s i l y be measured w i t h t h e c u r s o r s .
1) Apply the s i g n a l to the INPUT
terminal.
Use the VOLTS/DIV and SWEEP TIME/DIV c o n t r o l s
to d i s p l a y the waveform a t an e a s y - t o - s e e p o s i t o n .
2 ) A d j u s t the w i d t h of a c y c l e to 5 d i v i s i o n s w i t h the H. VARI c o n t r o l .
3 ) P r e s s the CURSOR MODE s w i t c h to s e l e c t the time and frequency measurement mode. A l i g n
the A R E F c u r s o r t o t h e t r a i l i n g edge o f t h e s q u a r e wave and t h e A c u r s o r t o t h e
l e a d i n g edge.
4 ) When t h e H. VARI c o n t r o l i s s e t t o UNCAL, r a t i o / p h a s e measurement i s s e l e c t e d and
a c c o r d i n g l y the d i s p l a y e d d a t a r e p r e s e n t s the duty of the square wave.

S i n c e the frequency i s found as a r e c i p r o c a l of a p e r i o d , measure the time ( p e r i o d ) of one
c y c l e and c a l c u l a t e i t s r e c i p r o c a l v a l u e .

2 ) F i n d the r e c i p r o c a l v a l u e of the p e r i o d found.
