DIRT SENSOR
The dir
t sensor is located on the floor brush.
When the vacuum cleaner is in use,
with the
switch in the CARPET position
, the blue light
on the top of the brush will illuminate to show
that dirt is being vacuumed. As long as the
light is on, dirt is passing across the sensor to
indicate that the surface still needs cleaning.
When the sensor light turns o
ff
, the sensor is
not seeing enough dirt to warrant further
cleaning of that area.
TO CLEAN DIRT SENSOR LENSES
The dirt sensor lenses are located on the
inside of the floor brush. These lenses should
be cleaned periodically.

The two dirt sensor lenses are located on
the inside of the opening as shown. Brush
each sensor lens several times to remove dust
and dirt.

To avoid accidental brushroll starting,
always turn off and unplug the vacuum
cleaner before cleaning the brushroll area.
Failure to do so can result in personal
injury.

brushroll jam. If the brushroll slows down or
stops, the overload pr
otector shuts off the
PowerMate
®
. The canister motor will continue
to run.
To correct problem:

vacuum cleaner, remove obstruction, then
press overload protector reset button.

CAUTION
Never use water or any cleaning solution
when cleaning the lenses. The residue of
the water or cleaners will accelerate the
recoating of the lenses and make cleaning
necessary sooner.
