PLACEMENT OF THE QUATTRO TFX™ SURROUND SPEAKER
Your QUATTRO TFX™ speakers are designed to be used as surround side and/or surround back channel speakers.
Your KEN KREISEL TFX™ Surround speakers can be installed in a variety of ways. They can be placed on tall stands;
shelves or bookcases; or more permanently mounted using a variety of wall mounts or ceiling mounts.
The TFX's great fl exibility makes it very forgiving when it comes to room placement that is less than optimum.
The speakers can either be mounted on the side walls or rear walls of a room relative to the listening position.
Please keep in mind that the QUATTRO TFX™ speakers are designed with a 7.5° angled front baffl
e to better focus
the sound radiating from it to the listening position. In order to obtain optimum performance the QUATTRO
TFX™ should be placed or mounted so that the four tweeters are on the bottom with the 5.25"driver on top as
illustrated in Figure 5.
5.1 ROOM SPEAKER PLACEMENT
Generally in a 5.1 system, the QUATTRO TFX™ Surround speakers should be located at an angle of 7.5° on the
side walls of the room, to the immediate Left & Right sides of the listening position. (see Figure 5 a/b & Chart A)
7.1, 9.1 & 11.1 SPEAKER PLACEMENT
In a 7.1, 9.1 or 11.1 system all the QUATTRO TFX™ Surround speakers should be located at an angle of 7.5° above
ear level. The fi rst pair of surround speakers should be on the side walls of the room to the immediate Left &
Right sides of the listening position. (see Figure 5 a/b & Chart A)
a. SPEAKER POSITION RELATIVE TO SEATING
In a 5.1 System, the speakers should be located on the side walls adjacent to the seating position. If there is one
row of seats, the speakers should be located directly to the left and to the right of this row of seats. See Figure
6. If there are multiple rows of seats, then the speakers should be located directly to the left and right of the
geometric center of the listening area. See Figure 7.
If the speakers cannot be located directly to the sides of the seating area, it is better for them to be towards the
back of the room, behind the listening position, rather than in the front of the room.
b. SPEAKER PLACEMENT RELATIVE TO LISTENERS EARS
Optimally the TFX surround speakers should be located above the primary listener's ears at an angle of 7.5°.

c. USE OF MULTIPLE PAIRS OF SURROUNDS in:
5.1, 7.1, 9.1 & 11.1 SYSTEMS
Some listeners prefer multiple pairs of surround speakers. In very large rooms, this may even be necessary.
Multiple surround speakers can make a dramatic improvement by providing a broader and deeper immersive
surround eff ect fi eld, silimar to the sound experiences at a public movie theater (See Figure 8). When using two
pairs of TriFX surround speakers, make sure that the speakers on the back wall have their arrows pointed at
the nearest corner
Note: Under ideal conditions, the back surround speakers should be located with the identical spacing in between them
as the front Left and Right speakers See Figure 8. In some listening situations, this may not be possible. Experiment
with various locations within your listening situation to locate the optimum location for the back surround speakers.
