INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
*
A) The KEI-850A Display box should be permanently installed in a location that is best for the
application. It is usually mounted straight out the drivers side window on a pedestal stand.
B) When the box is installed, place a vehicle in the alignment machine and install the
mechanical fixture onto the steering wheel. Ensure that the KEI-850A display box can be
easily viewed while loading an Unfixtured Clear Vision Tool onto a steering wheel.
* OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS
*
NOTE: As always, these Steering Wheel Gauges are delicate, accurate, gauging tools
that need to be treated as such and therefore must be installed in a holder when
not in use. If these tools do not have a holder & are thrown down on a table
during use, the warranty will be void.
A) Apply power to the KEI-850A by turning on the power switch located on the bottom left part
of the enclosure. This power switch also doubles as a circuit breaker for the KEI-850A
Display box. Should the breaker ever trip the power switch only needs to be turned to the
off position and back on to reset the breaker.
B) After the power has been applied to the KEI-850A Display box the LCD display will have
this display.
C) Place the TOOL on the steering wheel. The display will read the following.
D) Follow the display instructions and rotate the steering wheel to 90 degrees. The display
will now display the following.
E) Follow the display instructions and bring the TOOL back to 0.00 Deg. The display will start
to read out the steering angle starting at 30.0 degrees.
The program will jump back to
the start of the cycle if the SWG is rotated CCW past -5.00 degrees.
This is the
purpose of this whole procedure, to always bind all of the hysteresis CW.
F) If the KEI-850A displays the following message, the calibration data is bad and the unit
needs to be calibrated.
G) Note: The 850A Box is interfaced to the Alignment Machines’ PLC to control the
SWGs’ vertical pneumatic cylinder.
