Chapter 7

Example 2:

For a testing installation the modems are not connected directly at the
telephone access side. As the leased line has no attenuation in this case
transmission errors might occur due to overdriving of the modem receiver.
For this reason a resistor of about 470 ohms should be installed at each
wire (ref. to fig. below).

Example 3:

A leased line of about 25 km can be set up by switching of two modems
in back to back operation for signal regeneration (ref. to fig. below).
