The modems operate with automatic detection of the modulation
procedure at the transmission side during this asynchronous setting.
Towards the DTE the modem operates with automatical detection of the
transmission rate (autobaud) towards the data terminal equipment (DTE).
The data format is set to 1 start bit, 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit.

The ITU-T protocols V.42 and V.42bis are activated for safe data
transmission. If the remote modem does not support data protection
protocols the modems proceed with normal mode operation.
Modem reports are transfered as text documents to the DTE. During
command mode (AT commands) any characters are transfered as an echo
to the DTE.
