Features
High dynamic range of amplifi er units
High decoupling between the amplifi er units
Due to the use of a GaAs fi nal stage, the terrestrial
amplifi er is suitable for CATV applications
Adjustable attenuator (in 1-dB steps) for the satellite
and terrestrial range (all satellite branches are adjusted
at the same time)
Adjustable pre-emphasis (steps of 2/4/6 dB) in the
satellite range (all satellite branches are adjusted at the
same time) permits optimum pre-emphasis slope in the
cascade
The power supply to the VWS is provided by remote
feed from the last multi-switch in the cascade via the
"horizontal low" satellite branch
A local power supply via the DC port using the NCF 18
power supply unit (not included in the scope of deli-
very) as an option; this does not provide the power to
the LNB)
All satellite amplifi er units are fi tted with a DC loop-
through. The supply voltage of the end multi-switch for
the LNB is thus looped through.
Due to the use of a highly effi cient DC/DC converter,
the power consumption of the VWS 2991 is extremely
low
Attenuation and pre-emphasis can be set separately
for both satellite positions.

Intended Use
The VWS 2991 is used solely to amplify satellite and
terrestrial signals in satellite reception systems.
Any use other than that specifi ed or failure to observe
these application notes will invalidate the warranty or
guarantee.
Transport and Storage

Transport and store the device in its original packaging.
►
Transport the device only in the permitted temperature
range between -25 and +70 °C and store it in the range
between –5 and +45 °C. Make sure there is no water
condensation build-up.
