• Have the system repaired only be the
authorized customer service as special tools
are required to carry out repairs.
• If the system is to be scrapped, make it
unusable (e.g. cut off all supply lines).
• No liability will be accepted if the system is
used contrary to its intended purpose or
wrongly operated.
• The mains voltage supplied and the voltage
specified on the model plate of the system
must agree. The system is screened for
radio interference according to EC directive 87/
308/EEC.
Kärcher electrical appliances meet the
approved norms of engineering and device safety
protection (EC directive 73/23/EEC).
3. Working with the steam iron
system
Operating the steam iron system for
the first time
!
When the steam generator is suspended, the
ironing board is extra heavy. Take a firm grip on
the ironing board if you want to adjust the height
or unplug the steam generator and take it off.
Each time before ironing fill the steam
generator with water. This saves you from
unnecessary interruptions whilst working. Using
warm water to fill the steam generator reduces the
heating-up time required.
• Set the ironing board (1) up. Release the catch
by using the lever for height adjustment (17) and
set it to the correct height for working.
• Fold up the flexible cable holder (4) and fix it
in place.
• Screw off safety cap (12) on steam generator
(2) and fill with water (max. capacity 1.2 litres).
• Screw in the safety cap (12) firmly and hang
the steam generator on its carrier (13).
• Insert steam line (5) in the connection for the
steam iron (16).
• Place steam iron on the rest (7) and clamp the
steam line into the flexible cable holder (4).
• Plug the power plug of the steam generator (10)
and that of the steam iron (9) into the plug
connector strip on the ironing board (8).
• Plug the power plug of the ironing board (11)
into a mains socket.
In model 1102 BSX: Turn on the master switch
of the ironing board (6). The green light indicator
lights up. The active steam suction-removal
facility is switched on at the same time.

Do not switch on the steam generator if there
is no water in it, otherwise the unit may overheat.
• Switch on heat generator by the switch (15), the
light indicator orange in the switch lights up.
Wait a few minutes for the water in the steam
generator to heat up.
• Set the temperature regulator on the steam
iron to setting

. When the light indicator on
the steam iron (18) goes out the steam iron is
ready to use.
When you are ironing it is possible that drops
of water come out together with steam. This
happens if there is condensation water in the line
or if the water in the steam generator is not yet
hot enough. Direct the first burst of steam on to a
separate cloth.
• Place laundry to be ironed on the ironing board
and iron it with the steam iron. If you want
steam to come out in bursts, press button for
steam release (19) forwards; if you want a
continuous emission of steam press the button
to the rear.
For steam-ironing set temperature regulator to
setting

. The steam coming out will stop the
laundry from getting too hot. When ironing without
steam, adjust the temperature regulator to the
temperature suited to the fabric. For a prolonged
period of ironing without steam, the steam
generator can be switched off.
