Chapter 6 Troubleshooting
The table below covers the known problems and how they can be solved or provides hints how to
proceed.
Table 6.1 Troubleshooting Overview
PROBLEM
SOLUTION
E-O Converter does not power on.
Plug in the DC power supply and check if the MOST150
E-O Converter powers up.
If it now works, the Power LED (green) will turn on. Also,
the Charger LED (orange) will turn on.
If the Charger LED does not turn on (orange) or is red,
the battery is defective.
If neither of these works, the power supply might not be
operating correctly. Check that the green LED (on PCB)
is on for the 12 V power supply.
Network does not lock.
Check the Interconnect (optical) and MOST network
(electrical cPHY) Error LEDs on the MOST150 E-O
Converters.
If the Interconnect (optical) Error LED is on (red), make
sure that the glass optical fiber cable is hooked up
correctly and the connections are securely in place.
If the MOST network (electrical cPHY) Error LED is on,
make sure that the electrical cPHY cable is hooked up
correctly and the connections are securely in place.
If neither of these works, make sure that the network has
a timing-master.
Charger LED is red.
The battery is severely depleted of charge and a pre-
charge is needed. The charger will begin a fast-charge
cycle when a minimum voltage is reached.
The charging timer expires (6 hours) before the recharge
voltage threshold is reached. Perhaps the battery is
defective.
The temperature on the charger is too high, perhaps the
ambient temperature is too high or the battery is
defective.
Using time of batteries becomes much shorter than
usual.
