Keep the power cord away from the cutting area. Position it so it cannot get caught on the
workpiece.
Do not use high-speed steel blades.
Use personal protective equipment if necessary.
-
Ear protection to avoid noise injury
-
Safety glasses or a visor to avoid eye injury.
-
Respiratory protection to reduce the risk of dust inhalation.
-
Gloves when handling blades and workpieces. If possible, handle blades with a holder.
Connect dust extraction equipment when sawing wood.
Use a suitable blade for the material that is to be cut.
Store the tool in a dry, frost-free location.
Handle the tool carefully during transport.
WARNING
Certain types of dust created during sanding, sawing, drilling and other similar work contain
chemicals that have been shown to be carcinogenic, harmful to the developing foetus or cause
fertility problems. Examples of such chemicals are:
-
lead from lead-based paint
-
crystalline silica from bricks, cement and other masonry products
-
arsenic and chromium from chemically treated wood
The risk of exposure to these chemicals depends on how often you perform this type of work. You
can reduce exposure to these chemicals by keeping the work area well ventilated and using
approved safety equipment, such as a breathing mask that filters out microscopic particles.
Safety
Use a suitable blade for the material that is to be cut.
Do not saw materials other than those recommended by the manufacturer.
The tool must always be in storage position during lifting and transport.
Do not use the tool unless all the guards and other safety devices are in place, are working
correctly and are in good condition.
The area around the tool must be horizontal, well maintained and free from loose objects, wood
chips and sawing remnants.
If possible, the tool must be securely mounted on a workbench.
Check that the arm is securely attached when performing diagonal cutting.
Ensure there is sufficient lighting, such as general lighting or spotlighting of the workplace.
The user must have sufficient knowledge about and be familiar with using, adjusting and operating
the tool.
Only use sharp blades. Pay attention to the maximum speed indicated on the blades.
Check that any spacers and spindle rings are suitable for the purpose, in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions.
Only replace/adjust blades in accordance with these instructions.
Turn off the tool and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped and the saw head is in its
rest position before removing off-cuts or the workpiece from the cutting area.
Take particular care when sawing very small or very large workpieces, which are difficult to handle.
-
Use extra support (table, holder) for long workpieces that cannot rest securely on the table.
-
Never cut workpieces that are so small that you cannot hold them with your hand without
putting your fingers too close to the blade.
-
Work so that the workpiece and/or the off-cuts cannot lock the blade.
-
Round workpieces, such as rods or pipes, must be held securely so that they cannot spin
and lock the blade. Secure round workpieces with clamps, a vice or similar.
Even if appropriate safety regulations are adhered to and safety devices are used, it is not possible
to eliminate all risks. The following risks remain:
-
Risk of contact with non-covered parts of the blade
-
Risk of contact with the rotating blade.
-
Risk of the workpiece or parts of the workpiece kicking back towards the user.
-
Risk of the blade shattering.
-
Risk of parts of defect blades being ejected.
-
Risk of hearing injury if appropriate ear protection is not used.
-
Risk of exposure to harmful dust in closed areas.
