Setting the High Balance Point (Hi b.p.)
The high balance point is the outdoor temperature at
which the auxiliary heat is not used. Above the high
balance point, only the heat pump is used to maintain
the heating setpoint. If no outdoor air sensor is
connected, auxiliary heat pump operation may still be
used above the high balance point.
The high balance point is adjustable from 34 to 90
°
F
(1 to 32
°
C) in increments of 0.5 F/C
°
. Holding the keys
down changes the temperature by intervals of 5 F/C
°
.
To set the high balance point while in the Installer
Configuration Menu.
1.
Answer NO to all prompts until the set high
balance point prompt appears in the display.
Press YES to enter the high balance point menu.
2.
Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to adjust the high
balance point. Press YES to enter the value.
The display now shows the low balance point prompt.
See the
Setting the Low Balance Point (Lo b.p.)
section for instructions.
Setting the Low Balance Point (Lo b.p.)
The low balance point is the outdoor temperature at
which the heat pump operation is terminated when the
heat pump is in the heating mode. Below the low
balance point, only the auxiliary heat is used to
maintain the heating setpoint. If no outdoor air sensor
is connected, heat pump operation may still be used
below the low balance point.
The low balance point is adjustable from -40 to 34
°
F
(-40 to 1
°
C) in increments of 0.5 F/C
°
. Holding the
keys down changes the temperature by intervals of
5 F/C
°
.
To set the low balance point while in the Installer
Configuration Menu:
1.
Answer NO to all prompts until the set low
balance point prompt appears in the display.
Press YES to enter the low balance point menu.
2.
Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to adjust the low
balance point. Press YES to enter the value.
The display now shows the comfort/economy selection
prompt. See the
Selecting Comfort or Economy Mode
(Comf/eco)
section for instructions.
Selecting Comfort or Economy Mode (Comf/eco)
This feature selects how the auxiliary heat is used on
heat pump models. The selections are
Comfort
or
Economy
mode.
•
Comfort Mode (in heating mode)
If the heat pump is not able to satisfy the heating
setpoint, the auxiliary heat is energized to satisfy
the same heating setpoint.
•
Economy Mode (in heating mode)
If the heat pump is not able to satisfy the heating
setpoint, the auxiliary heat is energized to satisfy
the setpoint only when the temperature has
dropped 2.0
°
F (1.1
°
C) below the heating setpoint.
Note:
Selecting Economy Mode adds a deadband
between the heat pump and auxiliary heat in
heating mode. The actual temperature maintained
is lower than the true heating setpoint to maximize
the heat pump operation. When the outdoor
temperature drops below the Low Balance Point,
the deadband is eliminated.
•
Economy Mode (in emergency heat mode)
If emergency heat mode is selected, the setpoint
maintained is the heating setpoint.
To select the heat pump mode while in the Installer
Configuration Menu:
1.
Answer NO to all prompts until the comfort or
economy mode prompt appears in the display.
Press YES to enter the mode selection menu.
2.
Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to select comfort

section for instructions.
Selecting the Reversing Valve Operation (Re valve)
This parameter governs the reversing valve operation.
When selecting
O
, the valve energizes in cooling
operation (valve is normally heat). When selecting
B
,
the valve energizes in the heating operation (valve is
normally cool).
To select the reversing valve mode while in the
Installer Configuration Menu:
1.
Answer NO to all prompts until the reversing
valve operation prompt appears in the display.
Press YES to enter the reversing valve operation
menu.
2.
Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to select
O
or
B
.
Press YES to enter the selection.
The display now shows the compressor/auxiliary
interlock prompt. See the
Compressor/Auxiliary
Interlock (Comp/aux)
section for instructions.
