OSSD = Output Signal
Switching Device
An OSSD is a safe output switching element. Such an output switching
element is safe because the safety controller continuously emits a test
pulse as short as possible on the output and in this way detects whether a
downstream semiconductor can still be switched.
Test pulse generator
The TP generator in the JM-3000 supply unit generates test pulses
(signatures), so that the downstream peripherals can be checked for short
circuits and shorts between contacts. Given a corresponding setting on
the DIL switch block S-ADR, the related STO inputs expect the signature
generated by the TP generator. If the expectation of the STO inputs is not
met, the system changes to the safe state (see STO or SBC).
