Maintenance
Clean the electrode regularly
If the surface of the oxygen permeable membrane is contaminated, wash the
electrode in clean water. If the contaminants cannot be washed, carefully scrub with
a soft cloth or cotton cloth. Please be carefull when cleaning and not to damage the
membrane cap.
Calibrate the electrode regularly
It is recommended that the electrode be calibrated at least once every 3 months.
Please refer to the “Calibration Procedures” section for details on the procedure for
zero calibration and air calibration.
Electrode polarization
The electrode needS to be polarized when it is used for the first time or the membrane
cap and the electrolyte are replaced. The electrode is connected to the controller and
is powered on, called polarization. The innoSens 420 electrode is recommended to be
polarized for at least 15 minutes and the innoSens 425 electrode is recommended to
be polarized for at least 12 hours.
Replace electrolyte and membrane head
The electrode comes standard with a membrane cap and electrode fluid, which can be
used directly by the user. If the electrode is used after a few months storage, replace
the electrolyte first before using. If the membrane cap fails (eg, the response time
becomes longer, the value deviationbecomese larger or the calibration does not pass),
please replace the membrane cap.
Specific steps are as follows:
Unscrew the membrane body at the lower part of the electrode, remove the
membrane cap, drain the electrode fluid inside the membrane cap chamber, and pour
with random standard fresh electrolyte. Don't be too full, just enough to let the extra
electrode fluid overflow, be careful not to make bubbles, tighten the membrane cap
and ensure that the membrane can be close to the anode of the electrode.
If the electrode cathode is with oxidation phenomenon, use fine sandpaper to polish
After replacing the electrolyte and membrane cap, the electrode should be
repolarized and calibrated.
We use innoSens 420/425 polarographic dissolved oxygen electrode with high
performance oxygen permeable membrane. During use, the contamination or
blockage on membrane surface will cause measurement error, so it needs to be
cleaned and calibrated regularly according to field conditions.
When water is stopped for a long time
Close the water sample;
Turn off the power;
Unplug the electrode cable, remove the electrode and clean the electrode surface,
and put on the protective cap.
