TOWING THE CAR

This chapter describes the procedures for towing a broken-down
car with a breakdown truck.
To define the towing methods, comply with the following table,
according to the model to be towed.

Appropriate towing or lifting equipment is required to prevent
damage to the car. Only use suitable tow bars and other equipment,
following the equipment manufacturer’s instructions. Using safety
chains is compulsory. Attach the tow bars or other tow equipment to
the main structural components of the car and not to the bumpers
or related brackets. Comply with local and national laws related to
towing cars.

NOTE:

Make sure that the Auto Park Brake function (automatic parking
brake) is deactivated before towing the car to prevent engaging
the electric parking brake involuntarily. The automatic parking
brake function is enabled or disabled using the functions which
can programmed by the user in Uconnect Settings.

For cars with flat battery or absolutely no current when the
electric parking brake (EPB) is engaged, a trolley or jack must
be used to lift the rear wheels off the ground while moving on
the platform.

If accessories must be used while towing (wipers, defrosters, etc.),
set the ignition device to RUN mode.
The Safehold function engages the electric parking brake whenever
the driver side door is open (if the battery is connected, the ignition
device is in the RUN position, the transmission is not in P (park)
position and the brake pedal is released). If the car is towed with the
