Assemble

The  bearings  in  the  steering  articulation  joints  are

designed to be assembled without grease or other

lubricants. Lubrication of these bearings will actually

shorten the bearing life.

1. Install the bearing 2 into the central joint until it

is fully seated.

2. With the eye bolt lift the central joint up and put it

over the upper lug of the machine rear frame.

3. Lower the central joint and guide it over the lower

lug of the rear frame.

4. Lift the central joint upward and evenly space the

joint between the upper and lower lugs.

5. Install a new seal 4 into the top lug of the machine

rear frame. Make sure it is pressed into seat.

6. Install the new bearing cone 4 onto the top lug of

the machine rear frame. Make sure the bearing

is fully seated in its position.

7. Install  the  new  bearing  cup  4  into  the  upper

bearing bore of the central joint and make sure

it is fully seated.

8. Install the support washer 3.
9. Put  the  bearing  cover  in  position  against  the

central joint.

10. Apply Loctite 275 on the bolt used to install the

bearing cover.

11. Install the bearing cover with the bolts. Tighten

the bolts to the correct torque value.

12. Install the support washer 2 and the disc spring

2 on to the lower lug of the machine rear frame.

13. Install the bearing cup 3 into the lower lug of the

machine rear frame.

14. Install  a  new  seal  3  into  the  lower  lug  of  the

machine rear frame. Make sure it is pressed into

seat.

15. Install the new bearing cone 3 onto the bottom

bearing pivot. Make sure the it is fully seated in

its position.

16. Apply Loctite 275 on the bolt used to install the

bottom bearing pivot.

17. Install the bottom bearing pivot with the bolts.
18. Tighten the bolts to the correct torque value.
19. Remove the lifting eye bolt from the top of the

central joint and install the capscrew.

20. Install the new seals 1 and 2 onto the drum frame

lugs.

21. Install the new bearing cones 1 and 2 on the drum

frame lugs.

22. Move the drum frame into position in the central

joint. Make sure you do not damage the bearing

parts.

23. Install the support washer 1 and the disc spring

1 into the bearing plate.

24. Install the bearing cup1 into the bearing plate.
25. Apply  Loctite  275  on  the  bolts  that  attach  the

bearing plate.

26. Put the bearing plate in position and attach it with

the ten washers and bolts.

27. Install the steering cylinders to the central joint.
28. Put the hydraulic hoses in position on the drum

frame and secure them with clamps.

29. Install the front drum.
30. Remove all the jack stands.
