Appendix C: Using the LSR4312SP with Speakers Other
Than the LSR4328P / LSR4326P
Although the LSR4312SP subwoofer is optimized for use with LSR4328P and LSR4326P speakers, it can
also be used with other speakers. Many of the main onboard features will work as usual, including:
•Volume
•Meter and button brightness
•Subwoofer LEVEL
•Input source selection
•Bass Management ON/OFF
•Bass Management X OVER settings
•LFE FILTER settings
•Rear-panel phase polarity switch
However, the following advanced features will not be functional when the LSR4312SP is used with
speakers other than LSR4326P and LSR4328P.
•Bass management and the effect of the bass management crossover fi lter will still operate as normal;
however, because the signal sent via all LSR4312SP outputs (both analog and digital) is always full-range,
you will have to use external processing to set high-pass fi lters for connected speakers. In order to ensure
accurate frequency response, these must be matched to the LSR4312SP crossover frequency. If, for
example, you select a cross over frequency of 80Hz in the LSR4312SP, the high-pass fi lter for the main
speakers should also be set to 80Hz.
•The LSR4312SP SOLO button will not function, since there are no other networked speakers to
be muted.
• RMC Calibration cannot be carried out.
•Polarity of the LSR4312SP is set manually using the rear-panel DIP switch 6. (See pages 22 and 25 in
this manual for more information.)
•The wirelessw remote control will not work.
•LSR4300 Control Center software will not work.
