If the appliance strikes a foreign body, examine the device
•
for signs of damage and carry out any necessary repairs before
restarting and continuing to work.
If the appliance starts to vibrate abnormally, turn it off
•
and check for the cause immediately. Vibration is generally a
warning of trouble.
Always switch off the appliance and wait until the device
•
completely stops whenever you leave the machine, before
carrying out maintenance, before checking, cleaning or working
on the appliance.
It is forbidden to move or modify any of the internal parts
•
of the device.
Specific safety rules
Connect the power lead to the mains only with the tool
•
turned «off».
Always turn on the tool before setting it against the piece
•
you are working on.
Large variations in temperature can lead to condensation
•
on live part. Before use: Give the machine time to adjust to the
temperature of the work area.
Do not use machines, tools and recommended accessories
•
for works other than those for which they are designed!
Secure the workpiece. Use clamping devices or a vise to
•
hold the workpieces securely.
When not in use, during breaks, when doing adjustment
•
works, changing accessories or during repair, always unplug the
cable.
When working: do not allow the motor to stall under load.
•
Whenever possible, use a vacuum extractor for dust
•
collection.
Remove dust and other waste matter in an environmentally
•
safe way.
Take special care when sanding lead based paint: all persons
•
entering the work area, must wear a mask specially designed for
protection against lead paint dust and fumes.
Never use the machine for sanding magnesium
•
workpieces.
Do not sand materials containing asbestos!
•
Fit only accessories with velcro-type fasten coatings to
•
sanding plate.
Dust extractor holes on sanding paper and sanding plate
•
must correspond.
When sanding, avoid applying excessive pressure on the
•
machine, as otherwise it may be forced to a stop.
Never carry a plugged-in sander with your finger on the
•
switch.
Unpacking
When unpacking, check to make sure that all components are
included. Refer to the drawings on this manual. If any parts are
missing or broken, please call IVT assistance center.
Fitting sanding sheets
Switch
•
«off» tool and pull out mains plug.
The sanding plate is provided with a velcro-type fasten for
•
sanding sheets. This enables fast attachment of new sanding
sheets without the use of a clamping fixture.
ATTENTION
Before attaching new sanding sheet beat any dust etc. out of
contact fastener on sanding plate.
Lay new sanding paper tightly over sanding plate, ensuring
•
that holes in sanding plate and paper correspond.
Coarse sand paper (grain 50) removes in general the bigger
•
part of the material and fine sand paper (grain 120) is used for
the finishing.
Dust extraction
Dust extraction prevents large accumulations of
dust, high concentrations of dust in the ambient
air, and facilitates disposal.
[F1]
It is necessary to use the dust bag (6) to gather the dust.
ATTENTION
It is necessary to empty the dust bag in time.
Switching On/Off
[F2]
Switching On
Pull On/Off switch (1) on “I” position.
Switching Off
Pull On/Off switch (1) on “0” position.
Operating instructions
Finishing Sanding
The plate (4) of the finishing sander moves in a tiny circular orbit.
Thus it cuts across the grade at one time, with it at another, and at
all angles in between. As the motion is circular, it doesn’t matter
how you hold or move the sander and it is rarely necessary to
put any extra pressure on the tool.
The first principle of finish grinding is to use a grade of abrasive
that will make finer scratch than those already on the surface.
To use too coarse a paper will make the surface no smoother,
but instead roughen it more.
