SELECTING THE DETECTOR RESPONSE
There are t h r e e d i f f e r e n t d e t e c t o r response modes used i n t h e
f i l t e r c i r c u i t s , two f o r the
OCT
f i l t e r s and one f o r the A and
C
f i l t e r s .
For sound l e v e l meter a p p l i c a t i o n s u s i n g the A and
C
weighted f i l t e r s ,
the d e t e c t o r s s a t i s f y

e i t h e r t h e s i g n a l m o n i t o r mode, o r the p i n k n o i s e averaging mode. The

t o enable t h e o p e r a t o r t o view s i g n a l t r a n s i e n t s , impulses

averaging mode was designed m a i n l y f o r t e s t s u s i n g p i n k n o i s e and o t h e r
types of random s i g n a l s

The mode s w i t c h has o n l y t h r e e t o g g l e p o s i t i o n s , b u t i t i s used t o
s e l e c t A, OCT o r C f i l t e r s and a l s o t h e d e t e c t o r responses.
To s e l e c t
the s i g n a l m o n i t o r mode s w i t c h i s moved t o t h e A f i l t e r
and t h e n r e t u r n e d t o OCT. I f t h e mode s w i t c h i s moved t o t h e C f i l t e r
and t h e n r e t u r n e d t o t h e OCT p o s i t i o n , the p i n k n o i s e averaging d e t e c t o r s
be a c t i v a t e d .
