APS Cycle
The APS Cycle is a means of maintaining print quality. The APS system does this by using
a priming pump to force ink out of the channels and a vacuum pump and Waste Bottle to
collect the ink waste. The APS Cycle can be manually started by momentarily pressing the
prime button.
The APS Cycle will automatically activate at a designated time interval, which can be
adjusted using the rotary switch on the side of the Ink System case near the Prime Button.
The table below defines the settings available. Setting the rotary switch to 0 will disable
both automatic and manual APS cycles.
Manual Prime
A manual prime cycle is similar
to an APS cycle, except that it
is a bit more powerful and
uses a bit more ink. The cycle
can be started by pressing and
holding the Prime Button on
the rear of the print head hous-
ing for longer than 1 second.
The cycle will run while the
Prime Button is held, up to 5
seconds total.
Make sure to
release the button
before 10
seconds have passed, to avoid
entering
the
Recirculation
mode without the Print Face
Cover attached.
NOTE:
The system will not prime either manually or automatically if there is a low ink indi-
cation, which is caused by either low ink in the reservoir or full ink in the waste collection
bottle.
NOTE:
Adjustment of Print Head angle should be done according to the procedure outlined
in “Setting Up the Print Head” on page 6
