TCP Client Mode Applications
In TCP Client Mode, the IS-MS3180 can actively establish a TCP connection to a specific Modbus TCP
slave device. An example of how the complete system should operate is shown below:

Step 1: Connecting to a network, a PC and a Power Supply

Confirm that the IS-MS3180 device is functioning correctly. For detailed information regarding
how to install, configure and operate your IS-MS3180 series module, refer to
Chapter 3 “Getting
Started”
.

Connect both the IS-MS3180, the Slave Device (e.g. an Ethernet I/O module, optional) and your
computer to the same sub network or the same Ethernet Switch. For detailed information
regarding RS-232/RS-422/485 wiring, refer to
Section 2.5 “Wiring Notes for RS-232/422/485 Interfaces”
.
Step 2: Configuring the Ethernet Settings
Contact your Network Administrator to obtain a correct and functioning network configuration
(including the IP Address, Mask and Gateway details) for the IS-MS3180 module. Also refer to
Chapter 3 “Getting Started”
for more details.
