Zero Clearance Fireplace Installation
This appliance may be installed in a masonry or factory built/zero clear-
ance (ZC) fireplace. When installing in a ZC fireplace, the ZC grate must
be removed and the ZC damper must be removed or secured open. The
ZC doors, screen, refractory or masonry lining, baffles and smoke shelf
may be removed if necessary to install the gas insert. However, do not cut
or alter the fireplace components. The removal of any parts to facilitate
installation must not alter the integrity of the inner or outer shells of the
fireplace cabinet. Any parts removed must be replaceable if the insert is
taken out of the fireplace or the fireplace clearly marked with a paint stick
that "This fireplace has been altered and is no longer safe to operate."
This appliance is designed to fit into a ZC fireplace with a minimum firebox
height of 19-1/2" (495mm).
If the factory-built fireplace has no gas access hole(s) provided, an access
hole of 1.5" (38.1 mm) or less may be drilled through the lower sides or
bottom of the firebox in a proper workmanship like manner. This access
hole must be plugged with a non-combustible insulation after the gas
supply line has been installed.
The installer must mechanically attach the marking supplied with the gas
fireplace insert to the inside of the firebox of the fireplace into which the
gas fireplace insert is installed. See

Conversion from Standard 40,000 BTU Natural Gas To Optional
33,000 BTU Natural Gas Input
To convert input from 40,000 BTU's to 33,000 BTU's. (Assuming the
front door is already removed)
1. Remove the log rack (Use a 5/32" allen wrench) by removing two
screws on the front of the log rack and then pulling the log rack out
the front of the firebox.
2. Remove the burner by sliding the burner to the right off the main
burner orifice and out of the air shutter tube. The burner can now
be pulled out of the firebox and carefully placed aside.
3. Remove the main burner orifice (1/2" wrench) by turning the wrench
counterclockwise to loosen and remove.
4. Install new burner orifice #H5924 by placing the orifice in the bulkhead
and turning clockwise. Using a wrench, tighten the orifice until snug.
(Pipe dope or other approved gas line sealant will need to be applied
to the orifice before it is inserted into the bulkhead)
5. Reinstall burner by completing Step 3 in reverse.
6. Reinstall log rack by completing Step 2 in reverse.
7. The foil sticker supplied, stating RDV33, will need to be affixed below
the model name on the serial number label (located in the control
compartment).

Firebox Liner Kit and Log Set Installation
If logs are not installed according to the log installation instructions,
flame impingement and improper combustion could occur and result in
soot and/or excessive production of carbon monoxide (CO), a colorless,
odorless, toxic gas.
The size and position of the log set is critical to achieve a safe, reliable
and attractive flame pattern. Any attempt to use a different log set in the
fireplace will void the warranty and will result in incomplete combustion,
sooting and poor flame quality.
1. Remove the log rack (2 screws) and install the rear log on the retainer.
See
Figures 8 and 9
.
2. Place the rear firebox liner panel on the brackets and reinstall the log
rack with the rear log.
IMPORTANT!!! SCREWS PASS THROUGH THE
LOG RACK AND THE BURNER PAN.
3. Install the side firebox liner panels by sliding them into place. See
Figure 10.
