Note
: When connecting your modem to a power source in the next step, you
may want to consider using a power surge protector. A power surge protector is
designed to protect electronic devices from electrical surges that may damage
your computer or modem. If you don’t have a power surge protector, contact
your local computer or electronics retailer for further details.

Plug the AC/DC power adapter into a 120V AC power outlet.
The modem will perform a short self-test and then begin searching for
network coverage.

Continue with the next section to determine where to place your
modem for the best radio signal.
To Find the Best Radio Signal
1.
Adjust the position of the modem to achieve a strong radio signal. .
2.
Observe the SIGNAL indicators on the front of the modem to help
you determine when the modem has located a strong radio signal.
The indicators will be lit when a radio signal is received. Refer to
the following figure.
